Stark contrast between the dire state of biodiversity and outstanding state of biodiversity science in the Netherlands
Most prolific biodiversity researchers in the Netherlands lament current Dutch biodiversity situation and the lack of impact by science on policy and by policy on actual implementation.
Prof. Andrew Skidmore of the University of Twente and Prof. Peter Verburg of VU University Amsterdam joined a panel discussion at Elsevier’s headquarters on biodiversity. Earlier this year Elsevier issued a report on Biodiversity Research in the Netherlands which showed that the Netherlands is at the top of its game as far as biodiversity science is concerned.
